Ryoga Hibiki: Another person I didn't make up, he's property of Rumiko Takahashi and Viz Videos and probably a few others.
Called "The Eternal Lost Boy" he deserves the name…poor guy couldn't find his way out of a paper sack. He was the first character in Ranma 1/2 to actually be a challenge to Ranma Saotome. While he's not quite as fast or skilled as Ranma he has a fair advantage in both strength and endurance. He and Ranma used to go to the same Junior High, where lunch time made the place a literal battle field. Often Ryoga would be just within reach of getting the last good meal of the day, and Ranma would outsmart him and beat him to it. After a few weeks of this 'dishonor' he challenged Ranma to a duel in the abandoned lot behind his house. Ryoga tried to get to there but with his nigh-inconceivably lousy sense of direction he got lost and it took him 4 days and three nights in which he traveled at least a third of Japan. Ranma knew Ryoga was honorable, and probably knew about his sense of direction, so he waited for Ryoga…for 3 days. Ranma went on a training trip with his father, and Ryoga seemed to feel Ranma had run away, so he followed him. But, with his sense of direction he could never quite catch him. At some point he found Ranma at the cursed springs of Jusenkio.
The cursed springs are interesting, each one of them has a tragic story of something that drowned in it, and whoever falls in one of them changes into what drowned in it. Ranma's father Genma fell into "Spring of drowned Panda" and now turns into a Panda whenever splashed with cold water. Hot water reverses it, and turns the cursed person back into a human, but only until hit with cold water again. Ranma fell into spring of drowned girl… thus the 1/2 title, heh heh heh.
While at Jusenkio Ryoga was startled by a Panda (Ranma's father) and he jumped out of the way, only to be barreled into by Ranma as a girl chasing after his dad. Ryoga fell down into "Spring of drowned Black Piglet" and later acquired the nick-name of P-chan as a pig. Ranma's dad found Ryoga as a pig, and had intentions of eating him! Fortunately Ryoga turned back into a human before the fate of being devoured befell him. Ever since he's been after Ranma looking for blood. Once he catches up with Ranma they fight quite a lot, and his anger eventually subsides some as he befriends some of the "Nerima Wrecking Crew" as the Ranma 1/2 cast is often called.
Ryoga's a fairly impressive fighter, he seems to be able to move at speeds comparable to Ranma's and he has even greater superhuman strength. He's able to smash through concrete without visible difficulty. An item he carries around ever since being cursed and uses as a weapon is his…umbrella, it weighs about 200 pounds though and makes a fairly effective weapon, that he swings around one handed. Also he wears about 100 bandanas, which he's able to throw like shurikens, or throwing stars. His belt is also a weapon as it can be straightened out like a rod, makes a fairly effective slicing weapon oddly enough. He also knows a chi-based attack called Shishi Hokoudan, which channels his depression into a powerful attack. He actually beat Ranma with this technique once. He also trained in a technique that allows him to break any rock with one finger, this only works against stone and rock though, not that that was the main purpose. The training involves massive boulders being hurled at the trainee, failed attempts to destroy the rock result in "squishification." This training had the desired effect of toughening Ryoga up. 1
