Rain, Showers
Chapter 2
By Vaporeon86

Showers followed behind Team Rocket. He made sure that they didn’t know he was there. As the minutes passed, Showers got more and more impatient. “Why does this have to take so long?” He thought. “I need a way to get ahead of them… but how?” Just as if Showers was making it appear, suddenly he noticed a small gap in the bushes next to him, and it was none other than a thin path. “This could be useful. If I could get ahead of them, I could spring a trap to get Meowth for his…” Showers just stood there for a moment, fighting off bad memories. Finally he was able to shake them off, and began along the thin trail.

After what seemed like a full half hour, Showers finally laid down to rest. He was very tired, so he just hoped to take a short nap….

But he was interrupted by 2 voices along the trail. “Aha! Finally! To strike!” Showers curled back, and was ready to pounce, when the two arguing people with the egg and the Pikachu walked by. Showers relaxed his tense muscles, and decided to watch them go by. But they didn’t.
Ash: “MAN!! I am tired!! All that walking can get you hungry! What’s to eat?” He sat down on the ground, and relaxed his back up against a rock. The Pikachu followed him and laid down on top the rock.
Misty: “Well, I’m afraid that all we have left is some rice… but I don’t know if you want any…”

With that, he leapt up, run over, and grabbed the container of rice right out of the girl’s hand.
Misty: “Hey! That has to last for all of us! Give it back and I’ll give you some!”

Showers began to chuckle at the tug-of-war these people were having over a bowl of rice. “That selfish boy… why doesn’t he let everyone have some?” Showers thought to himself. With that, the girl yanked the bowl of rice out of his hand, and began to put it in 4 containers. She eventually set the 4 bowls out on a rock, and they began to eat. But that egg seemed to decide that it wasn’t hungry, and walked over to a tree, and began to stare at a rock. It kept this up while the others ate, and Showers started to get hungry just looking at the food. He hadn’t eaten in quite a while. His stomach grumbled along with his thoughts. Unluckily, the egg seemed to have heard it, and was now staring at him. Showers hoped that the egg thing would just leave him alone, but it didn’t. It decided with a cry of “Togepi!” to go over and see if Showers wanted to play with it. As the egg ran over, Misty noticed that Togepi was running to something, so she let out a call.
Misty: “Togepi! Come back! This isn’t a time to play in the bushes!”

Showers quickly turned, and began to move off, but in doing so, the bushes around him began to rustle.
Misty: “ASH!!! Something’s in the bushes!! Get it before it harms Togepi!!”

Now Showers had blown his cover. Upon hearing this, he froze, unsure of what to do. The boy and the Pikachu forgot their meals and leapt to their feet.
Ash: “Quick! Pikachu! Thunder Shock into those bushes!”

With that, Pikachu sent a bolt out into the bushes, and the only way Showers was to avoid it was to jump out, so he was forced to do so.
Ash: “Cool! A wild Vaporeon! I’m gonna catch it! Pikachu! Thunderbolt, now!”

Always following the boy, the Pikachu fired a Thunderbolt straight at Showers. Using incredible speed, Showers jumped above the bolt. “I am not wild!” Showers screamed. “Leave me alone! I don’t want to hurt you!!”

The Pikachu seemed to understand this, but continued to attack. Angered by this, all Showers could do was try to get rid of the Pikachu. Showers quickly used Surf to try to get the Pikachu away. The blast of water hit the Pikachu head-on, and knocked it into a tree.
Ash: “Pikachu!! No!!! Let him go!!!”

His point made, Showers stopped the water flow, and watched the Pikachu drop to the ground. Ash ran over to the Pikachu, checking to see if it was ok.
Ash: “Pikachu! Are you ok?!?” With this, Ash suddenly turned his head upward, and gave the Vaporeon an evil eye. “I’m gonna catch you, whether you like it or not! Go, Pokéball!” He threw the ball, and Showers knew he had to do something, and quick. He quickly fired an Ice Beam, catching the ball in midair, totally freezing it. The ball fell to the ground, useless. Ash seemed stunned. He didn’t think a Vaporeon knew ice-type attacks. As he thought about this, the Pikachu walked back to Ash’s side, and began to talk.
Pikachu: “Why did you do that?”
Showers: “I told you to leave me alone. I also warned you. I am not a wild pokémon, and I do have a master, or should I say I had a master.”
“Then you are wild.”
“HA! Would a wild Vaporeon know ice attacks? My master taught me these, and I’m not going to resort to the level of wild pokémon.”
“All my master wants is to provide you with a home! The food’s good, everything is good!”
“I had a home. It just was burned to cinders, that’s all. By a Meowth, that I will not be stopped from getting my revenge on.”
“Is that Meowth possibly traveling with two humans, by the names Jessie and James?”
“Yes, how did you know?”
“They follow us all the time. If you are trying to get them, come along with us. We run into them more times than you think.”
Showers thought about this, and couldn’t come up with an answer.
“Let me think about it. I really want to do this alone.” Showers turned to walk off, but looked back, and saw that a small Ekans was sneaking up behind the Togepi. Showers quickly fired an Ice beam, freezing the snake solid. “I’ll come back soon,” Showers said, “because it looks like you need me.” With that, Showers walked off into the bushes to gather his thoughts, leaving a stunned Misty, Ash, and Pikachu behind him….
