The Side Villain Tournament
Tournaments are a time-honored tradition of the PokéBattles format. As PokéBattles are, at their heart, every tenth battle (approximately) is some tenth battles are followed with a showdown between the best and most popular trainers of the time the best of some subset of the Version's trainers.

This Tournament is a challenge for side villains / minor villains, specifically those who are not minions of another villain.
